History

Donnell Cemetery is associated with the pioneer Donnell family of Young County. James D. Donnell brought his family to the area in 1876 and, with his sons, completed a dam and gristmill on the Clear Fork of the Brazos River that same year. The mill turned out meal and flour for a wide region and operated for nearly half a century, making the Donnells among the county's notable early settlers.
