History

Peveler Cemetery, a small burial ground near Eliasville in western Young County, takes its name from the pioneering Peveler family. John and Will Peveler were among the area's earliest settlers, working as contractors who supplied nearby Fort Belknap, one of the most important U.S. Army posts in North Texas before the Civil War, and the adjacent Brazos Indian Reservation.
