History

Catonville Cemetery, also recorded as Chambers Cemetery, sits about seven or eight miles west of Clarksville on the John Guest survey and is linked to the small community of Caton. A post office called Catonville opened briefly in 1888 and reopened as Caton in 1892. The oldest marked grave, an infant son of J. H. and M. S. Caton, dates to 1866; the Chambers Cemetery Association acquired 1.25 acres in 1920, and about 57 burials had been documented by 2004.
