History

This burial ground in the Shiloh community of northeastern Red River County, about six miles east of Clarksville, is known as Old Shiloh Cemetery, a name adopted to distinguish it from the nearby Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian congregation and Madras Cemetery. A 1901 deed conveyed a tract of the William Wheat survey from Leopold Silberburg to the Old Shiloh Cemetery Association. In 1937 a marker was dedicated here commemorating early Presbyterian church history in Texas, and about 63 burials had been recorded by 2004.
