History

Concord Cemetery stands on FM 1700 roughly eight miles northeast of Clarksville and began as a family burial ground before it became a church cemetery. In April 1854 Richard F. Giddens conveyed one acre of his survey to the Concord Baptist Church, land already in use for graves; the oldest marked burial, Joseph R. Giddens, dates to 1847. Sometimes recorded as Old Concord or Giddens Family Cemetery, it held about 88 documented burials as of 2004.
